For utilities & prime consultants
Hand us the scope. We'll handle it.
We work like an extension of your team. We think ahead the way you do, so problems get handled before they become yours. One person owns your scope from start to finish, and you hear from us before you have to ask.
ZUVIC Inc. is a Rocky Hill, Connecticut civil, environmental and survey firm that utilities and national prime consultants bring onto capital programs: on call to Eversource, the MDC and GNHWPCA, and brought in on 169 projects by five national engineering firms since 2012.
What working with us looks like
You shouldn't have to manage your sub.
A project manager at one of the national firms we work with told us it's easier to hand a job to ZUVIC than to keep it in-house. He knows it will get done, and he won't have to chase it.
That's the standard. You shouldn't have to manage your sub. We read the scope, ask the questions up front, and tell you early when something in the field or on the schedule changes. You find out before your client does.
Projects for CDM Smith, Arcadis, Hazen & Sawyer, AECOM and Jacobs since 2012
Projects for the Metropolitan District, 2010 to 2022, directly and through its primes

First survey for the South Hartford tunnel. Still on the program in 2026
Featured work
Fourteen years on one tunnel program.
South Hartford Conveyance and Storage Tunnel · MDC
Survey, design, construction support and PCB work, on one program.
The South Hartford Conveyance and Storage Tunnel is the centerpiece of the Metropolitan District's Clean Water Project, built to cut sewer overflows in the Hartford area. ZUVIC started in 2012 with design survey and 3D base mapping for AECOM, the program's design engineer, including 1,500 feet of the West Hartford overflow conduit and 2,300 feet of the Newington conduit. That grew into force main design, then inspection and construction administration.
At the launch shaft, PCB-impacted soil threatened the tunnelling contractor's schedule. ZUVIC wrote the contractor's soil management plan and ran the federal PCB (TSCA) sampling, then produced the report on the partial PCB cleanup, which the District's engineer approved in March 2019 for submittal to EPA and CT DEEP. From 2023 to 2025 ZUVIC led PCB excavation oversight in the field for Contract 3, and produced stamped sheets for the 54-inch force main to the Hartford treatment plant.
What primes hand us
The scopes that need to be right the first time.
Most of what we do for prime consultants falls into three disciplines. Each has its own page with the detail.
01 · Environmental
Soil, groundwater and PCBs on live programs.
Soil management plans and federal PCB (TSCA) sampling, excavation oversight, hazardous building materials surveys before demolition, and Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) verifications.
Environmental →02 · Civil & site
Site civil, utilities and the local permits.
Site design around pump stations and plants, water and sewer design, force mains, stormwater, local and state permitting, and inspection and construction administration.
Civil & site →03 · Survey & scanning
The base everyone designs from.
Design survey and 3D base mapping, desktop utility surveys, easement mapping, record drawings, stockpile volumes, and 3D laser scanning with scan-to-Revit models.
Survey & scanning →What utilities and primes say
In their words.
I am very happy with the quality of both the HBMA and the OPC. Thank you for your attention to detail in these.
Thank you, Dan and Andrew. Appreciate your help getting this turned around quickly.
Thanks for your effort in completing this mission. With you creating the surfaces and calculating the volumes really made this effort go smoothly.
