Thanks for coming to the Cambridge AI Forum.

I moderated the infrastructure panel. If something from the conversation stayed with you, I'd like to hear about it. — Miroslav Grajewski, P.E., President & CEO, ZUVIC Inc.

Why an engineer on an AI panel

Somebody still has to build it.

The panel asked how communities can use AI to imagine a better place to live, who gets a say in it, and what it takes to make it real. That last part is where engineers come in.

A water treatment plant is a good example. The neighbors live with the trucks, the smell and the construction. The town downstream gets the clean water. Every piece of infrastructure has that shape: the people who carry the cost aren't always the people who get the benefit. Better tools can help a community see that trade-off sooner and talk about it honestly. They don't replace the judgment of the people who walk the site, read the history, and stand behind the work.

That's the work ZUVIC does. We're engineers and scientists who help developers, site owners, utilities and the firms that build infrastructure take complicated sites from "nobody wants to touch it" to built. We stay with it until it's figured out.

One thing you can do this week

Put your idea in front of the city.

The evening's call to action: Cambridge's Participatory Budgeting cycle lets residents propose how part of the city's budget is spent. Ideas are due October 11, 2026.
