  • Phase I ESA

It all begins with a Phase I environmental site assessment which is essentially a review of the property including a review of regulatory files and site setting information, personnel interview and a walkover of the property. A comprehensive report is prepared which summaries the information obtained. If potential spill, release areas or chemical storage areas are identified on the property, then a Phase II investigation is typically performed.

  • Phase II Investigation

A Phase II investigation evaluates whether contamination is present at areas of environmental concern. Samples are collected and analyzed to determine whether contaminants of concern are present from releases that may have occurred. If a release is detected, a Phase III investigation is typically performed to determine its extent.

  • Phase III Investigation

A Phase III investigation evaluates the nature, degree and extent of releases identified during the Phase II investigation. The Phase III investigation includes collection of samples from the affected media which are then analyzed for the contaminants that were released at the property. The Phase III investigation also evaluates whether remediation is necessary.

  • Hazardous Building Materials Assessments

Hazardous Building Materials Assessments evaluate whether building materials in structures contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead based paint and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The assessment also determines whether the abatement of those materials is required prior to demolition or renovation.

The MDC South Hartford Conveyance and Storage Tunnel

An 18-foot diameter, 4.8 mile long bedrock tunnel is being built 200 feet below surface. The tunnel is designed to temporarily store combined wastewater and stormwater during rain events. Which include; Qualified Environmental Professional Services, Preparations of permits and plans, soil and rock sampling and designation of material for disposal.
