Environmental Remediation and Cleanup Solutions

  • To find out what environmental risk a commercial or industrial property poses we investigate and design solutions based on the needs and plans of our clients.

  • In conjunction with the environmental risks of a property, ZUVIC conducts demolition surveys for hazardous building materials including building inspections for lead, asbestos, PCB containing materials.

  • Remedial Action Plans

If a property requires remediation, ZUVIC assesses and presents cost effective options designed to meet clean-up goals. We have a track record with many remedial technologies and processes, including excavation, soil vapor extraction, chemical oxidation and biologic degradation.

  • Opinions of Probable Cost

So it’s been determined that a property will require environmental remediation. But how much will that cost? Utilizing ZUVIC’s years of experience implementing remediation technologies, cost estimates are developed for proper comparison of the remediation alternatives being considered.

  • Remedial Cleanup

Remedial alternatives vary from site to site and ZUVIC will implement the remediation that is appropriate. ZUVIC knows the contractors and vendors that can perform the remediation services and provides oversight of their performance.

  • Innovative Solutions

If a property requires environmental assessment or remediation, ZUVIC evaluates and presents cost effective options designed to meet project goals. We have a proven track record with many remedial technologies and developing more efficient sampling techniques.

Goodwin University Riverside Campus

ZUVIC completed the environmental design and permitting for the construction of a new main campus building located on the east bank of The Connecticut River. The site formerly supported petroleum terminal storage and transfer facilities. ZUVIC prepared hazardous building material assessments of more than 16 residential and industrial structures for the purpose of reconstruction or demolition, Phase I, II, and III environmental site assessments for for the property, and identified areas of soil remediation. The key to the successful completion of this project was very close collaboration with the owner and architect. ZUVIC provided full technical support to the owner and the construction manager during the entire process.

Middlesex Turnpike

ZUVIC conducted Phase I environmental site assessments on the Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The site had a petroleum leak that impacted the groundwater in area of the former underground storage tank, fuel dispenser and downgradient. Remediation was recommended to reduce the concentrations of petroleum contaminants in the groundwater and abate the Significant Environmental Hard Condition at the site. ZUVIC came up with a remediation approach that includes the injection of a remediation compound. Groundwater monitoring wells were installed onsite to evaluate groundwater conditions in those areas.

Eversource Substations

ZUVIC worked on multiple Decommissioned Electrical Substations throughout The State of Connecticut. Conducting Phase I, II and III environmental site assessments. The sites were reviewed to determine the status of environmental issues and corrective actions needed. Phase II environmental site assessments were completed to evaluate the extend and degree of any releases that are identified during Phase II. Remedial action plans were created as needed per site.
